Young Church | Big Plans
Overflow Church is located in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Led by a spiritual, energetic young staff they sought out a new home for their church. Currently they lease space from a local theater, but their growing attendance and desire to have a permanent home led them to look for available property. They were fortunate to be gifted the former Sears store in Benton Harbor. The existing store is 130,000 square feet, more than enough area for the young church. But with external ministries and outreach programs the building will provide space for other groups that enhance Overflow’s vision and the community.
Serve Studio was hired to assist in the planning process. Having an understanding of contemporary worship and experience with building reuse and mixed use scenarios we created a master plan for the development of the building. Utilizing a phased master plan the building will be able to adapt to their current needs and future needs, while providing space for a local thrift store and other future tenants.
